High Fat Diets Can Lead To Breast Cancer
Scientists have known for years that breast cancer rates in the western world are around 5 times greater than in developing countries, but it is only now that they have been able to make the link between our traditional high fat diets and this devastating illness.
A group of scientists from Jefferson University fed one group of mice a diet that contained around 20% fat (a typical western diet) and another group a diet containing 5% fat. In the high fat diet mice, the incidence of breast cancer were twice that of the low fat group, and their tumours were almost twice as big.
This is just one more weapon in the fight against breast cancer.
Cutting your dietary fat intake can be achieved by examining the labels of the food you eat, and writing down the grams of fat you eat every day. The accepted average is around 100g however it would be worth aiming for under 50g a day to see the benefits.
Another approach is to use a “fat blocker” that works by preventing a proportion of the fat you eat from being digested so that it simply passes through the body. Proactol is a popular fat blocker because it has been shown to block 28% of fat.
